SPEC The Role
Define what success actually looks like before you advertise. Skills, Personality, Expectations and Cultural Fit, written down and agreed.

Hiring The Right People is the four part process Stephen Shortt has used with founders, boards and HR teams across four decades of assessment work. Take it as a keynote, read it as a book, or run it with your team in a three hour workshop.

repeatable way to hire, for everyone
The framework
Most hiring goes wrong long before the interview. These four stages replace gut feel with a process anyone on your team can run the same way twice.

Define what success actually looks like before you advertise. Skills, Personality, Expectations and Cultural Fit, written down and agreed.

Go beyond the CV. Traits, Aptitude, Learning, Enthusiasm, Nurture and Team Fit, calibrated to the role in front of you.

Turn the interview into evidence. Structured questions that surface real behaviour, real patterns and the red flags people usually miss.

Trust but verify. A personalised reference script on your final one or two, built around the gaps the process left open.
Three ways to take it in
The keynote
A high energy 45 to 60 minute keynote for conferences, leadership summits and company kick offs. Stephen walks the room through all four frameworks with the stories, the science and the costly mistakes behind them.
The book
The written companion to the keynote. Every framework unpacked chapter by chapter, with scorecards, question banks and reference scripts you can lift straight into your next hire.
The workshop
A working session, not a talk. The room builds a real SPEC, calibrates the TALENT criteria, drafts the interview guide and leaves with a hiring process they can run next week, against a shared case study in an open session, or your own live roles when we bring it in-house.
Behind the framework
Stephen Shortt leads Talent Select, where psychometric assessment and validated aptitude testing have been used to select and develop people since the 1980s. Hiring The Right People takes that discipline and turns it into something any leader can run.
The result is a process that holds up in the boardroom and on a Tuesday morning when you have three CVs and one open seat.

Tell us whether you want the keynote, the workshop or a copy of the book, and we will come straight back to you.
